Ronnie Bowman Album: "The Man I'm Trying to Be" Rating: (3 Paws)

While I have been here in the studio listening to Mike do the Folk Sampler, I have heard a variety of styles of bluegrass.  I would call this bluegrass country.  Some big country names appear on this cd, such as Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs.  In fact, the title song could play on many country radio stations and most listeners would never guess that Ronnie is a member of the bluegrass group Lonesome River Band.  Or that he won Male Vocalist of the Year, Band of the Year, Album of the Year awards from the likes of IBMA and SPBGMA.  He has some powerful bluegrass guests on the album as well, such as Terry Baucom, Sam Bush, J.D. Crowe, Aubrey Haynie, Jerry Douglas, and Tony Rice.  This is a very nice album with lots of drive and good songs.
